With more and more ships being built and everyone trying to produce something different you would think the cruise industry must be running out of ideas.
Obviously not the case for Virgin Voyages who have just announced that their first ever ship Scarlet Lady will be the first ever cruise ship to have a tattoo studio on board.
I was very surprised by this as can’t really see how popular this will be. The ship will launch in 2020 and will have 2 tattoo artists on board. The studio will be called Squid Ink and they will be using vegan ink.
Virgin have said that tattooing is a seafaring tradition that they want to continue and be able give people a souvenir they will never lose.
Personally I don’t like the idea but then I don’t have any tattoos so maybe it would appeal to others that do.
For me I am more interested in outdoor features such as the Rooftop Garden on Celebrity Edge or the Waterfront Boardwalk on MSC Seaside.
You can get a tattoo any time so I would be enjoying my time at sea while I can.
What do you think, good or bad idea ?
