Hong Kong is really all that and Dim Sum

We finished up our wonderful tour of China with 4 nights in Hong Kong.

I was very excited for Hong Kong as i had seen they have a Disney World there and heard it was one of the best after the Florida parks. I was also really looking forward to the Symphony of lights cruise.

I must admit it was quite difficult to choose where to stay in Hong Kong as there are so many areas. We had decided to stay in the Kowloon area as many of the attractions we wanted to do were very accessible from here. We booked to stay in the Regal Kowloon. This was a beautiful hotel, very clean and very friendly staff. The buffet restaurant downstairs was really good for breakfast, plenty of choice. Our room was so spacious and we had a great view over the square. Eating in the hotel’s restaurants seemed very expensive but we didn’t struggle for places very reasonable to eat out and about in the city.

The weather was very hot and humid here in April. Definitely reaching over 30c.

Our first day there we decided to use the City sightseeing bus as a few of the stops were handy for the places i wanted to see including Man Mo Temple and the Garden of Stars. And a bonus was that it was air conditioned. As we were in the area we decided to have our dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. I always enjoy visiting a Hard rock and collecting a t shirt. I have a great collection on the go.

Before heading out for our Symphony of Lights Cruise we found a nice little Sushi bar around the corner. You ordered the food on an app and it came out to you on a conveyor. It was good fun and really cheap. There’s a chain of them in Hong Kong. Genki Sushi.

The Symphony of lights cruise was brilliant. There’s a bar on board and your drinks are included. You get some lovely views of the harbor and the lights are great to watch.

Our time in Disney was brilliant, we had such a great day there. I’ll cover more of that on a future post for you all.

On our last full day we decided to go for a Half Day Deluxe Hong Kong Island tour. We were first taken up to the Victoria Peak and we opted in for the Sky Terrace. the views up here were spectacular. Unfortunately the Peak Tram was being renovated so we had to be taken up there by mini bus. Afterwards we were taken down to Aberdeen. The poorest area of Hong Kong yet our Sampan ride around the fishing village was great. We did make a stop at the Tse Sui Luen Jewellery building but i didn’t find this interesting at all and didn’t intend on buying anything. Finishing the tour off with a trip to Stanley market where i managed to buy more chopsticks, some lovely silk dressing gowns and a silk Chinese dress. Really great prices. All in all it wasn’t a bad tour and got some to see some very interesting sights of Hong Kong.
