A Visit to Brisbane

I, despite my absolute fear of flying, managed to make the long haul out to Brisbane, I flew with Cathay Pacific which was fine but with a 5 hour stop in Hong Kong, at the time I booked it I was glad of the break from all the hours in the air but of course it means that I have another take off and landing to cope with, thankfully it passed without a glitch.

The weather was amazing and I did most of the city on foot and kept walking along the river, although I did get involved in the bikes, where you can pick it up in one place and leave it somewhere else, great idea, I know we have it in big cities here  and made great use of it.  One evening I decided to jump on the boat and see more of the sights on the River cruise.

I will let you know that it is generally more expensive down under so I just kept an eye on the budget but as long as you know beforehand you don’t have to go crazy.

The met some great people and love the outdoor life, evenings in bars and restaurants in the open air, Australia is somewhere you can pretty much take that for granted unlike being at home.  A friend of mine was getting married and they were able to plan the outside and beach parties well in advance and know that the weather would be good for it.  We did have one massive storm during my stay and you could see it coming for miles – very impressive.

I did a few of the touristy things while I was there, I took the half hour ferry out to Tangalooma, out in Moreton Bay, with restaurants, showers and everything you needed on hand for a perfect day at the beach which was idyllic, with so much space it was incredible.

And of course, a trip to Dreamworld to hug a koala!  I was impressed with the living arrangements for all the animals, I am generally against wildlife in captivity but they again, had so much space, the crocodiles at feeding time is a sight to behold and don’t get anywhere near them!

A trip to anywhere in Aus would not be complete with the Kangaroos…, they have a ‘chill out’ zone when they can step away from the public and they take full advantage of it and I don’t blame them, everyone wants to see them. My

One of my favourite stops was at the Dingo’s, adorable I’m sure you will agree

There are still so many places I want to see down under but it looks like I would need a good 6 months, if I make it I’ll let you know …..
