Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre

Step onto the wooden boardwalks of the world's first dedicated orangutan rehabilitation facility, established in 1964.
Nestled deep within 43 square kilometres of protected virgin equatorial rainforest, this sanctuary plays a vital role in rescuing orphaned, injured, or displaced baby orangutans.
Because these young apes spend up to ten years learning survival skills from their mothers in the wild, the centre acts as a surrogate parent, teaching them how to climb, forage, and nest.
During your visit, you will spend time at the outdoor nursery, a specialised viewing area where you can watch the youngest and most playful apes navigate an elaborate jungle gym, building the physical strength needed for independence.
Afterwards, you will move to the main outdoor feeding platform. Here, as the jungle canopy begins to rustle, you can watch magnificent, semi-wild amber-furred "men of the forest" swing gracefully down from the treetops to gather for a supplemental meal of fruit and milk, offering an unforgettable up-close encounter.
