Wander Through Alfama & Baixa

Experience Belém & Docas de Santo Amaro

Situated along the sparkling Tagus River, Belém is where Portugal’s legendary Age of Discovery began. This historic precinct is home to two UNESCO World Heritage sites: the ornate Jerónimos Monastery and the iconic Belém Tower guarding the river entrance.

No visit here is complete without stopping at the original Pastéis de Belém bakery to savour warm, cinnamon-dusted Portuguese custard tarts straight from the oven. Further along the riverfront, the historic docks at Docas de Santo Amaro have been transformed into a chic marina strip under the shadow of the 25 de Abril Bridge, offering waterfront seafood dining and vibrant sunset cocktails.

Ride the Iconic Trams & Funiculars

Step aboard Lisbon’s legendary yellow Remodelado streetcars for an unforgettable journey through time and terrain.

Dating back to the 1930s, vintage Tram 28 functions as a rolling museum, rattling and screeching through the impossibly narrow, winding streets of Alfama, Baixa, and Estrela. Beyond the main tram network, the city’s historic funiculars (elevadores) are engineering marvels built to conquer Lisbon’s steepest hills.

Hop on the Elevador da Bica as it climbs a colourful, tile-lined street framing the Tagus River, or ride the iron-wrought Elevador de Santa Justa, a 19th-century neo-Gothic lift designed by a student of Gustave Eiffel, for a sweeping 360-degree view over the city's rooftops.
