I’m not a gambler so what can I do in Las Vegas?? Part one

I took a trip to Las Vegas about 7 years ago and fell in love with the place!  As lots of our packages include some nights in Las Vegas before flying to and sailing out from American ports on a cruise I thought I’d give you the run-down on my trip from the perspective of someone who doesn’t really enjoy gambling.

The hotels are the main attraction in themselves and you don’t have to stay in them to visit and explore each one’s amazing individual features, bars, nightclubs and shows!  I stayed in the Circus Circus for the first 2 nights and then New York New York for 2 nights.  I found the Circus Circus to a bit far out from the major hotels on the strip.  It did however offer great options if you are taking children with you.  Inside the hotel is a wonderland of rides, stalls with games and circus acts!  Who would have known so much could fit under one roof!  This is well worth a visit as well if you are in the area.  Whilst over this end of the strip we visited the Stratosphere.  This iconic hotel is way out of the way right at the top end of the strip and you would have to get a taxi to comfortably visit the rest of the strip if staying here.  It is great to explore though during the day.  They have the most incredible view of Las Vegas from the observation deck at the top of the hotel and for those of you who are braver than me some rides including the ‘X Scream’ which sends you head first over the edge at the top of the hotel!  I heard rave reviews of this but…. Not for me!!

Most hotels have at least one pool.  These are for guests only.  Perfect for a few hours relaxing and soaking up the sun!  Whilst positioned in the Circus Circus we took the opportunity to venture down towards the middle of the strip.  First stop was the Venetian Hotel where a few friends enjoyed the Blue Man Show which they said was incredible!  I decided to explore this hotel.  The hotel is out of this world!  It really does feel like you are in Venice.  You can pay to take a gondola ride or just soak up the atmosphere.  There are plenty of bars around and I found the lowest stakes slot machines and had a play.  I lost hardly anything and whilst playing you are approached by waitresses offering to get you a free drink.  This is cheaper than paying for drinks at the bars and more fun so well worth remembering!

I will tell you more about my trip in my next blog
