My MSC little holiday.

For those of you who have read my previous posts you will see that when it comes to holidays I am very lucky and have several. One a year is always with my friends who are all so important to me in so many ways. So when we do these as we are all married with families value for money is our main concern, price being number one on our list. Once again with history repeating itself MSC offered us just that.

This time the Musica Class of ship was our choice. As we could only go in April and wanted some sunshine MSC Musica offered just what we wanted. With just over 3000 guests over 16 decks she was not too big for my two first time cruiser friends and we decided a balcony cabin was a must. We had mid ship next door on deck 10 with the balcony partition opened by our cabin steward so we had easy morning access to each other to plan our days. Mediterranean departures on this ship offers a first and second dinner sitting which is 6.30pm and 9 pm. 630 too early as we planned to make the most of our time ashore however 9 was rather late and found most evenings we were to full to sleep. Yes I did say full. I have read reviews recently that the portions were small and of poor quality. Not sure if luck or not but this was not the case last week. All meals were excellent and hot with an amazing choice. The veg selection is very poor put if you look at the menu on the section that says always available, steamed seasonal vegetables, ask your waiter for this and you will not be disappointed. After the 2nd night we did not have to ask he brought it automatically. Cheese plate another niggle. Us Brits are used to our biscuits with cheese, ask and they will appear. Kevin our waiter kept a supply at hand and sure enough appeared whenever a cheese plate was ordered.

I must admit I prefer the glitz of the Fantasia Class and was devastated to not see the Swarovski stairs in the atrium as I had driven my pals crazy raving on about them but it was still very tasteful without being over the top.

We had booked the complete package with MSC which meant their flight and transfer which I must admit ran like clockwork. We flew with Jet2 from Manchester and once through customs plenty of MSC Staff there to assist getting to the transfer vehicles. Boarding was plain and simple although on arrival the lines looked massive but I would say within half a hour we were on board. As a 12.30 departure home we were the first group to disembark and again no problem. However make sure that if paying with a debit card you ensure your account is closed before you try to get off or you will be sent back to reception to clear this even if you have over paid. Credit cards are so much easier and cleared straight away.

I will tell you about the ports of call next time, that really was the highlight for us all.
