Automatic Upgrades

Greetings Cruisers

Hope you are all well

So what a summer we are having, this weather is fantastic, but aircon is certainly needed at night, it is so difficult to sleep šŸ™

Anyways enough about that, I have more important things to talk about.

Automatic UpgradesĀ

Now listen carefully, it is very important to understand the conditions of when these are offered to you.

So let’s take an example

You have booked yourself in the lowest grade of Inside cabin, let’s say PE Grade and you have done your homework and checked to see where the cabins are within this grade, and you like where these cabins are located, and can see that you only need to be upgraded a couple of grades to maybe get lucky and be given an Outside cabin. So you agree to this, only to find out later down the line that your cabin has been allocated and it is not where you thought you might be, you call your agent to complain that you are not happy with the allocation. Unfortunately when you accept an automatic upgrade you can never go back to your original cabin. It makes no difference how much you complain to the cruise line, they will not budge.

Another mistake people make is when they accept a guarantee grade of cabin, so again you have done your homework and can see that the grade of cabin you have chosen will be allocated on a certain deck, however what the cruise line is actually offering you is a minimum grade but you could be upgraded higher and end up nowhere near where you thought. So remember you are only guaranteeing a MINIMUM grade of cabin, not guaranteeing an actual grade of cabin.

It never surprises me how many bookings have come unstuck under these booking conditions. So please remember to ask all the questions and make sure you are booking exactly what you want, simple rule of thumb, if you want a certain grade of cabin in a certain part of the ship makes sure to say no to an automatic upgrade and do not book a guaranteed cabin.

Well enjoy the rest of the summer and keep on cruising
