Is cruising all about the food and drink?

Well food is a major part of cruising however the ports of call and th entertainment on the ship is as attractive.

When you treat yourself and go out for a meal you normally have a starter, main and dessert, do you have that at home too? Well on a ship you will have,  and remember this is every night if you want, a choice of 6 starters, 6 mains and 6 desserts EVERY night!!!  You could also nip upto the buffet and have a choice of approximately 50 different dishes from around the world!

I was invited to an opening of a new pub in Birmingham recently by an old mate who is an up and coming chef and his friend had was the chef at the venue.  The pub was called the ‘Pint Shop’ We could sample their beers from a selection of local brewers and the Balti scotch egg i had as a starter was amazing.  For main I had a blackened brisket kebab……well I was in Birmingham the best place to eat Indian/Asian food apart from actually going to Asia that is.  The Pint Shop is highly recommended for a bite and a few beers.

One thing though that my clients have said is that on certain cruise lines they are offering a drinks package within the cost of the cruise.  One client said ‘ it was a typical Brits abroad sailing’  I think some passengers were abusing the drinks package some what.  There is always that niggle in the back of your mind that if there is a ‘free bar’ on your cruise some people will spoil it for others with drunken antics.  I hope the security on the ship kept a watchful eye on the perpetrators and told them to calm down as it was spoiling the other passengers enjoyment. Drink packages are here to stay so if are reading this please drink responsibly…..i wouldn’t want a call to say there’s a ‘man overboard’ due to excess frivolities.
