Government ‘tit for tat’ ruins cruise holidays

In July Iranian oil tanker Grace 1 was detained legally in Gibraltarian waters because it was carrying oil against EU sanctions, to Syria, and that’s why Gibraltarian authorities acted.

Since then a British registered tanker was seized by Iran because it was the exit lane to enter the Straight of Hormouz.

What has this got to do with cruiseing?  Well P&O have decided to cancel all its Emirates sailings from Dubai in Oct 2019 through to March 2020 because of possible seizures by Iran.  Now Oceana is not registered in the UK however she does have obvious links to Britain.  This is not great news for the world of cruising as I am sure other cruise lines will follow with cancellations of sailings in thet part of the world because of the uncertain climate.

P&O will replace sailings with sailings from Southampton which will be advertised on 20th Aug this year. It seems that any cruise ships which have an afiliation with the UK are not now going.  MSC and Costa cruises still have their ships around the area for late 2019 into 2020

Does our goverment know what their actions do to our travel and tourism industry?
