Cruiselines pledge $ to help rebuild The Bahamas

The cruise industry has pledged millions of dollars to aid relief and recovery efforts in the Bahamas, following Hurricane Dorian.  Over 40 people lost their lives and thousands were left with no homes after the devistating hurricane which swept over The Bahamas last week.

Royal Caribbean is donating $1Million.  Also Royal Caribbean are loading their ships with aid, provisions and generators to help with the re build of the islands.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruises have also announced that they will send several ships to Freeport in coming weeks with the purpose of delivering thousands of meals to shore for affected people there. The first ship will be  Royal Caribbeans Empress of the Seas.  She arrived on September 5th which was a slight deviation from her normal itinerary.

The Carnival foundation, which is a charity based with Carnival corporation (Princess, Holland America, Carnival cruises) will donate again $1 Million in aid. Carnival have two port Itineraries which were affected and have pledged to rebuild these islands Grand Bahama and Half moon quay.

NCL cruises have pledged $2 Millon in aid and have sent a ship with aid to The Bahamas

MSC cruise line have committed to delivering supplies immediately needed by people in affected areas of the Bahamas and delivering them using its cargo ships. The company will also assist with long-term needs, specifically in the way of semi-permanent housing.

There are smaller cruise lines who have donated too. It is going to take a huge effort to get the beautiful destination of the Bahamas back to what it was, remember Miami and teh East coast of Florida a few years ago had a hurricane hit which devistated areas there, this was rebuilt, so hopefully it will not take too long to get the Bahamas back.
