I have just returned from a mini cruise on Celebrity Silhouette over to Le Harve which is the port for Hornfleur and Paris. I booked a 2B grade balcony deck 6 forward number 6125. Even though the cabin was at the front of the ship I did not feel any motion, which is strange in the Channel, i guess i was lucky with the weather.
It was a 2 night sailing which people normally book to see if a cruise is for them. There was a lot of groups on board, mostly hen parties which just added to the atmosphere as there was a buzz around the ship for the duration.
The only moan I had was as this sailing came with a drinks package, and obviously Celebrity knew this there were not as many staff serving from behind the bar, I mean there were hardly any floor servers which meant you have to queue at the bar for quite a while. It was the same on Eclipse this time last year.
The duty free alcohol shop was not open due to customs regulations, mind you I did see a lot of wine being brought ashore in Le Harve by passengers to bring home with them.
The main differences I saw from Eclipse were that Silhouette had a bit more furniture on the top deck grass area. That was it really. The food and entertainment was as always fantastic.
Oh just a point non related to Celebrity at all. Watch out in Southampton if you have a coffee….the sea gulls have taken to a cheeky Costa!!
