The East Is Back

Some of the best places to cruise and stay has to be the Eastern Mediterranean. The people are lovely, weather is fantastic, and it has the most amazing scenery and historical sites if that interests you. This area for a while where cruising is concerned did a bit of a turn with many cruise lines moving away which was a shame.

Now the East is back and is now spoken of as one of the areas to visit in 2019/2020.  Of course the East is not only including Greece and the islands but Turkey as well as the “Holy Land.”  It is still an area where most of the mainstream cruise lines do not travel too frequently apart from MSC cruises.

This area is popular though with many of the luxury cruise lines where of course you will get the many American, Canadian  etc nationalities who want to have a bit of culture.   I know I am being picky but if you want to travel to this area on a luxury ship then I would look at Oceania, Seabourn and Regent cruises.  Lovely sized ships, fantastic food what more could you want! Silversea of course are also sailing in the area which are worth a look at for sure.  Then we have the likes of Viking ocean cruises who I really do like. They have some smashing itineraries which may appeal. Let me not forget Crystal cruises again, worth a look at.

This whole area is really huge with I think plenty to keep you occupied. From the capital city of Greece Athens, to the wonderful islands of Santorini (the gem for me!), Rhodes, Crete, Cyprus, Mykonos to name but a few.  Then of course you can visit Istanbul with the fabulous Blue Mosque and the “Holy Land” areas such as Haifa and Ashdod.

This is the time of year when you are all sitting down by the fire planning your next trip, have a look at this area, see what you can do on the ships and where you can visit.  I have been to this area for a number of years (too many!) and never ever get bored. If you would like any information on the cruise lines just shout!

Happy planning!

Till next time x
