It’s Indiana Jones Time!

It does not seem that long ago when Egypt was a really popular destination for us travellers, and in particular a Nile cruise. Of course, events in the world stopped all that and for a while it seemed like we would never be able to visit such a marvellous place again.  Now, we are about turn as the river cruise lines are now coming back, I am pleased to say!

Emerald river cruises have just announced two brand new itineraries which take in Egypt and Jordan, again another place I have visited.  The first cruise Emerald are offering is a 10 day trip from Cairo right down to Aswan. Cairo is a fantastic place to visit. The pyramids of course are probably the place where most people want to go. These are now really in the residential suburbs of Cairo which is a shame however, when you get close up to them they are the most amazing structures i have seen.  If you walk around to the back of them all you see is desert and can kind of imagine what it was like so many moons ago. The other place to visit is the Cairo museum which is full of mummies and the like!  Amazing is all I can say, to actually look at the face of someone like Ramses or see the world famous mask of Tutankhamun. After your 3 day stay in Cairo you then fly to Luxor and pick up your cruise. If I am honest this is probably the best bit of all.  The temples, tombs, and all the beautiful scenery as you cruise past is in all honesty just fantastic.  Lucky you would then  go onwards to Abu Simbel, where I havent been and then onto Aswan – really the most amazing trip.

The second itinerary which  Emerald are featuring is the same as the first one but after Aswan you fly to Amman the capital of Jordan for a 2 night stay. A really lovely city and very cosmopolitan, again with some fabulous ancient ruins. Then you travel to Petra and here is where you stand and say OMG! I can not say in words how wonderful, and magnificent Petra is. It is of course now a world heritage site and rightly so – it really is amazing.

Apart from all these fantastic places you are going to see, I should not forget the lovely ship! This is 5 star. All cabins are air conditioned with great views of the Nile. On board there is a swimming pool, with sundeck and like every river cruise the food is excellent and as the ship only takes 142 guests, it has that great personal feel.  Lastly in every port there is a excursion included and if you wanted to do something more then you just add it on, such as the evening light show at the Pyramids which is really good.

For me, this really is a not to be missed trip, would I do it again? Yes in a minute I would!  Call me or email me if you would like to discuss, I am here to help.

Till next time x
