Fred Likes The River!

River cruising is on the up. Did you know that in 2017 the number of British people who tried a river cruise increased by 21% – no wonder then that Fred has moved into the river cruise market, earlier this year.

What Fred have done is chartered the Amadeus Princess and renamed it the Brabant. The ship can take 156 passengers so she is not huge and Fred have made sure that for next year the tea and coffee making facilities will be added to every cabin – as we all love that morning cuppa!  Of course the competition out there is fierce as everyone is trying to give something new or a bit different. However, not everyone wants this. As long as you get the right atmosphere on board with a good itinerary and of course good food, I think you are onto a winner. Most of the cabins on this ship have floor to ceiling glass windows. There is a little plunge pool on deck, a spa and a nice lounge.

A lot of the river cruise lines include excursions but Fred have decided to not include them. I guess it is a way to keep the base price down and lets face it sometimes you just want to do your own thing.  Some river cruise lines also have lecturers on board to talk about the different areas you are travelling through, or maybe just the history and I hear that Fred are thinking of doing that in the future.  I know a few people do not like that but again it is your choice if you want to listen or not.

Of course this wont be for everyone, but I think for a first time river cruise it may very well be up your street. The prices are very good. Compare that to the likes of Viking or Uniworld and you see why.

So, if 2019 is the year you want to try out a wonderful river cruise, then do not discount Fred – they are worth a look, you never know you may just want to sample!

As always, if you would like any information, just shout.

Till next time x
