Our Adventure to Flaam with Fred Olsen!

Well getting back to my cruise with Ella on the Boudicca with Fred Olsen.

Our next stop was Flaam in Norway, I have never visited Flaam but heard so many stories about how breathtaking it is, and oooh wow it lived up to all expectations.

The morning we arrived we starred out of our porthole in our cabin and was overwhelmed with the views, it looked absolutely amazing.

We both threw our clothes on and rushed out on deck to view the beautiful scenery. It was rather chilly but the views were truly spectacular, waterfalls trickling down the sides of the steep snow-tipped mountains.

We did look at doing an excursion on the Flamsbana which is the Flaam Railway with the ship in Flaam, but it was fully booked. So Ella and I decided to get off and go to the train station to book it ourselves, which was so much easier and also cheaper.

The train journey was spectacular and it takes about an hour, the train goes up 866 meters, the railway connects from Flaam to Mydral mountain station. The train stopped at the Kjosfossen Waterfalls for about 10 minutes to allow us to take some pictures which were just amazing, the waterfall had only slightly broken so not in full flow but just to stand by them was spectacular.

When you eventually arrive at Mydral station you are allowed to get off for about 15 minutes to have a look around and guess what it was snowing. Everyone else wearing their bobble hats other than moi?

The train journey In Flaam is a must! The train is nice and airy with ample seating, the windows are massive so you can just sit down and watch the beautiful scenery as you go by. The views are just breath-taking, you just get blown away.

After visiting Mydral we all jumped back on the train for our journey back down these beautiful mountains. It takes about an hour back down to Flaam.

In all our trip cost us, £50 per person which was cheaper than booking it directly with Fred Olsen, It was worth every penny.

If you are thinking of travelling to Flamm in May just make sure you have some warm clothing as well as a bobble hat to keep you warm!

Missing the pink bobble hat that I should have bought in Bergin!
