A FEW STORMY DAYS AND IT IS STILL NOT OVER

Hurricane season in the Caribbean generally runs from June to November each year.
This year has been no different apart from the lovely Dorian who made an appearance last week. Dorian started of as a category 3 storm but as she grew she was quickly upgraded to the strongest category 5, the strongest of storms.

Cruise lines had released statements early on to say the Port Everglades and Miami were closing and other arrangements were being made for passengers on board and also for passengers  waiting to start holidays.

However as all storms are unpredictable Dorian made a slight change in direction which however has devastated the Bahamas. Winds reached up to 185 MPH.  Parts of the Bahamas received up to 35 inches of rain leaving many areas flooded.   Many people have lost family members, homes and businesses have been completely destroyed.

After the hurricane had passed we are now seeing the aftermath of the storm in the Bahamas. It has been reported that the Islands have been so badly destroyed one cruise line Royal Caribbean has pledged 1 million dollars towards the emergency relief fund. They also have re -routed the ship Empress of the Seas to make an unscheduled stop to deliver emergency aid and supplies including generators, meals, bottled water, cleaning supplies, sheets and towels.

Thank you RCCL let’s hope more funds can be raised and help all of the lovely Bahamian people try and rebuild there lives x

Dorian has devastated the northern Bahamas from Sunday to Tuesday – She is now battering the coasts of South and North Carolina in the United States Of America but is weakening

Stay safe. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone x

Till next time
