Azamara’s new addition to its fleet! Joining in March 2018 – Azamara ‘Pursuit’

It has just been revealed that Azamara Club Cruises is to buy P&O Cruises’ ship Adonia, taking its fleet to three ships.

The 30,000-tonne ship will join Royal Caribbean Cruises’ upmarket Azamara fleet in March 2018 and will be renamed Azamara Pursuit, joining two similar-sized ships– Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest.

The 704-passenger ship will undergo refurbishment before Azamara takes delivery and information about deployment and itineraries will be released in October.

Adonia’s last cruise for P&O will be on February 23rd until March 9th starting and ending in Barbados.

Guests booked on any Adonia cruises after March 2018 will be contacted directly either by P&O Cruises or their travel agent.

Azamara has stated that the new addition to the fleet will allow visits to unique ports that larger ships are unable to reach, and then together, the three ships will support the brand’s commitment to enrich destination immersion around the world, by staying longer in port to allow guests to experience more.

The ship’s décor will be updated to match the brand’s upmarket position; these updates will be similar to the renovations recently introduced on the Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, bringing guests the experience of a boutique hotel at sea.

P&O Cruises senior vice president Paul Ludlow said: “With almost six months until Adonia leaves the fleet, we will ensure that each of the cruises in her final season with us are extra special and celebratory.”

President and chief executive of Azamara Club Cruises Larry Pimental said: “We are pleased to expand our portfolio by 50%, allowing us to visit even more regions of the world through the acquisition of this sister ship.

“Our loyal guests and travel partners have asked for this expansion for a long time; we are very pleased to deliver this to them.”
