All things Disney – combine a Disney Cruise with time in Orlando to enjoy the parks and beyond! But first, what is Disney’s new news?

First – Disney Cruise Lines reveals plans for third new ship!

For Disney fans this is great news.  As a huge fan myself I feel it may be time for me to experience a Disney cruise.  I have been to Disney World in Florida 14 times, Disneyland California twice and Disneyland Paris several times.

So what is Disney Cruise Lines new plans?

They announced further expansion plans that will nearly double the size of its already existing trio of ships.  The new vessels will enter service by 2023.

They announced a deal last year with German shipyard Meyer Werft for two new ships, and at 135,000 tons, they will be slightly larger than the newest Disney Cruise Line ships – Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

The two new ships are planned for 2021 and 2022 with the new delivery scheduled for 2022.  This new seventh ship in the fleet will bring new features and enhancements which both adults and kids are going to enjoy.

Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Bob Chapek, said: ‘We decided two ships wouldn’t be enough to hold all of the exciting new experiences we have been dreaming up to take family cruise vacations to a whole new level with immersive  Disney storytelling, world-class family entertainment, and imaginative innovations that are fantastically fun and uniquely Disney. By the time all three new ships are sailing, we’ll have nearly doubled the size of our existing fleet.’

Second – now this is a definite one for me – Disney has also announced that its third-old theme park Epcot is undergoing a major makeover after an announcement revealing ambitious plans.

Plans for Epcot include a biennial convention for Disney fans that attracts an estimated 100,000 people to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, over three days.

A major new ride — themed to “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the hit Marvel movie series — is planned for Epcot’s front section, where a simulator attraction, Mission: Space, will be updated and expanded.  Now this I’m really looking forward to.

A ride based on the Pixar film “Ratatouille” will be added to the park’s World Showcase area. Epcot will also serve as stop for a new gondola system called Disney Skyliner connecting various hotels and parks.

This is not going to be a small attraction,’ Kevin Rafferty, a Disney ride designer, told the crowd of the Mickey Mouse offering. ‘It’s going to be game-changing.’

Well Disney never does anything ‘small’, and I for one am looking forward to Disney’s ever developing future.

My two children and grandsons all have the Disney bug and I look forward to holidaying with them for many more years to come in this ‘Magical World’.

But what are your thoughts on today’s news?  Are you a big Disney fan?  Are you more excited for the theme park’s makeover or the next three ships added to the fleet?

What is your favourite Disney ship or park?  Leave me your comments!
