Partnered with the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, this cruise line puts loads of effort into making sure their ships are up to a 5-star standard with antique furnishings, original art, Murano glass chandeliers and hand-finished detailing. It’s earned them the #1 River Cruise Line award from Travel + Leisure magazine in 2018, so hop onboard for a spot of stylish pampering!

You won’t find the dozens of specialty restaurants onboard a Uniworld ship that you would find on a typical ocean cruise liner. Instead, there’s a strong emphasis on quality over quantity with impeccably appealing buffet spreads at breakfast and lunchtime and super indulgent five-course a la carte dinner menus, all paired with regional wines. Cuisine is made from locally sourced ingredients from the regions you travel through, ensuring you enjoy a fresh and exciting menu every evening – no frozen meals here! This means dinner might be Osso Buco Milanese in Italy or Tandoori Chicken Tikka in Italy.
Specialty cuisine is always on hand for those with allergies or menu preferences, and this includes the Traveling Lite menu. This delivers all the fresh flavours of the traditional menu, with fewer calories. It’s the perfect feature for those trying to stay on top of their health and fitness while still enjoying themselves. Do you follow a plant-based diet? Vegetarian and vegan options are always on hand upon request.
As you travel through some of the world’s most notable wine producing regions, it’s no wonder that the onboard wine menu reflects the quality you’ll find offshore. Wine lists are carefully curated by expert Sommeliers to give you a taste of the regional specialties. These are all available as part of the all-inclusive package. The all-inclusive nature of a Uniworld River Cruise means you can also enjoy beers from small local breweries along the way, as well as a range of premium spirits and cocktails. Specialty coffees, water and soft drinks are also included on all sailings both in the restaurant and bar.
With a limited passenger list, there’s plenty of room to spread out and relax during your cruise. Entertainment venues are small and intimate, like the 10-seat Lipizzan Cinema available on some newer ships. Sink back into blue velvet banquette seating and enjoy a cinematic classic or recent blockbuster in cosy surroundings. In the evenings, you can mix and mingle with fellow passengers in the plush bar and lounge. Local performers are often invited on deck for after-dinner entertainment, treating you to music, dance and cultural performances.
You’ll find far more options at hand than the usual walking tour of each port. Excursions are just as unique as the ships themselves, carefully tailored to passenger interests and each destination. Enjoy private art tours in Vienna, hunt for truffles in the countryside of Provence, or visit modern royalty in their castle homes. You’ll have the chance to fully immerse yourself in a different culture if desired. The ‘EatWith’ partnership option allows you to share a meal with a local host in their home, for a truly authentic glimpse into the new destination. Get active with a hiking or biking excursion – the cruise line offers complimentary bicycles and Nordic walking poles.
A lot of care goes into excursions to keep you active and engaged during your cruise, but this same standard of service goes into the onboard experience. Walking around a Uniworld ship is an activity in itself; allowing you to admire the original artwork, plush fabrics and one-of-a-kind antique furnishings. These old-world touches are combined with modern technology including flat-screen televisions and onboard Wi-Fi. Free passenger laundry facilities are a welcome touch after a day of traipsing through the countryside!
All ships include small gyms, with larger Super Ships including heated swimming pools as well. Start your day with a relaxing yoga session on the sun deck or a challenging TRX® Suspension Training class. Relaxing spa services are available to help you unwind with a massage or beauty treatment, or you can test your limits with a personal training session.
All accommodation on a Uniworld cruise matches a boutique hotel experience, with premium cotton linens, fluffy towels and ultra-comfy Savoir beds. Getting up in the morning can be a challenge with such a comfortable set-up! Butler service comes as standard in many suites, giving you access to your own white-gloved assistant to attend to your every whim. Marble bathrooms are outfitted with high-end L’Occitane and Hermes bath and body products to keep you feeling fresh.
A Uniworld river cruise is truly all-inclusive and this extends to service charges. Gratuities for the onshore tour guides as well as the ship’s crew and staff are all included in your fare. However, if you decide to venture off on your own =to sightsee when you’re at each port, you can tip at your own discretion.
The dress code is fairly relaxed at Uniworld, with the cruise line putting more of an emphasis on comfort than formality. They recommend packing for a range of different weather conditions, including plenty of layers to keep you comfortable during excursions. A smart casual dress code is in force for most activities, including sturdy walking shoes and a stylish coat or wrap for chillier evenings. Evening events are slightly dressier, with a sports jacket recommended for men and a cocktail dress or pantsuit recommended for women during special events, concerts, and fine dining occasions.
