Shearings River Cruises

Shearings River Cruises offer over 80 different voyages to choose from, whether you fancy an epic two-week cruise or short break to get away from it all. This modern river cruise line is partnered with A-ROSA to lend an extra layer of luxury to your cruising experience, with on-deck leisure facilities ranging from heated pools to saunas and bars.

Popular Routes

Make your way down some of Europe’s most popular rivers with Shearings, including the Moselle, Rhine and Danube. This luxurious river cruise line offers a bevy of destinations to choose from, with 12 new routes added for 2019. Sail your way through the Black Sea, down the Adriatic Coast, or right into the heart of Venice Lagoon to admire the old-world architecture and charming harbours of impossibly picturesque towns and villages. Beyond Europe, Shearings has charter partnerships allowing you to cruise down the Yangtze in China or the Mekong in Vietnam and Cambodia. You can even take a cruise down the legendary Nile River, exploring the rich history of Egypt from ancient to modern days.

Dining Options

Cruising all day can sure make you work up an appetite, and Shearings is ready to serve you with a full range of tempting menu selections. The specific dining options will depend on your ship and itinerary, but you can expect a blend of English and Continental choices starting with the scrumptious buffet breakfast. Lunch and dinner are multi-course affairs, starting with elegantly prepared soups and salads and ending with a dessert or cheese and biscuits. The chefs use locally-sourced ingredients from each region you pass through, ensuring impeccable freshness for every meal. Menus often reflect the region, so you might enjoy apple strudel in Austria or Nicoise salad in France. Options are on hand for vegetarians, and special diets can be catered for – just ask!

For a true treat, don’t miss out on the Captain’s Dinner with its six courses of gourmet cuisine in elegant surroundings. Many ships offer an outdoor restaurant and barbecue, allowing you to dine al fresco as you enjoy the view. There’s also a tea and coffee station onboard to keep you warm and caffeinated 24 hours a day.

Half The Price But Just As Good!

MS Serenade 2

I had booked with Shearings, at about half the price of Viking or Avalon, so was it going to be any good? Well yes it was, in fact the whole trip was lovely: well organised, lovely boat, nice cabin...

M V Virginia Far Exceeded Expectations.

We decided on a river cruise as we had always wanted to cruise down the Rhine although we were very apprehensive... However, we need not have worried as the ship and its staff were wonderful.

Are service charges included in price?

Gratuities are not included in the price of your river cruise, so you can show your appreciation to the crew, tour guides and staff members if you wish. Tipping is left to your discretion, with 10-15% an industry standard.

What is the dress code onboard?

The dress code is as relaxed as the welcoming ambience onboard a Shearings river cruise. The cruise line prides itself on creating an intimate, friendly atmosphere, so the relatively informal dress code helps back this up. It’s listed as smart casual for both day and evening activities, such as open-neck shirts, trousers and dresses. Do you enjoy looking snazzy every now and then? If you wish, you have the option to dress a little more formally for the glitzy captain’s farewell dinner. On that night, ladies can wear a fancier cocktail dress and gentlemen can sport a suit and tie. The daily newsletter will also give you dress code advice if there are any special events happening to be aware of!

Drinks Packages

Have you worked up a thirst along with that appetite? Go for the all-inclusive package and you’ll enjoy free drinks as well as full board. This offers the best value for your money, giving access to unlimited tea, coffee, soft drinks, water, beer, wine and spirits. From a glass of local wine at dinner to a nightcap in your cabin, you’ll find plenty of options to wet your whistle.

You can expect a lively, friendly ambience onboard a Shearings river cruise, with the staff working hard to keep the evenings entertaining. The schedule will depend on the itinerary and ship, but you could enjoy themed dinners, cocktails, live music, interactive quizzes and bingo nights. Being a river cruise, the excursions are also a major component of the entertainment options, so be sure to check the daily programme to see what’s on! City tours, wine tastings, or bicycle trips can brighten up your days onshore.

Back on deck, you could enjoy everything from craft mornings to cookery demonstrations depending on the day. There’s a cosy public lounge where you can mix and mingle with fellow passengers in the evenings, along with a well-stocked library for a quiet night in. Do you prefer something a bit more active? You could even spend your night showing off your best moves on the dance floor, accompanied with either live music or a dedicated dance host and DJ.

Amenities and Activities

Having partnered with A-ROSA to offer a higher standard of luxury, you can expect plenty of high-end amenities and relaxing facilities during your river cruise should you travel on one of these ships. For example, A-ROSA ships feature heated pools, a gym, sauna, and sun deck. The A-Rosa Donna also includes a spa and salon, where you can indulge in a beauty treatment or massage to let your cares drift away.

In addition to Shearings’ fleet of A-ROSA ships, you might find yourself on a sleek charter boat with plenty of similar options and more. The exact amenities on offer will vary depending on your route, so be sure to look at the specific ship’s list of features when booking. No matter your itinerary, spend your time relaxing on the Sun Deck with its shaded areas tailor-made for lounging, or challenge a travel companion to a game of giant chess.

Cabin Features

Cabins are sleek, modern, and comfortable to ensure you’re able to relax in private whenever you wish. While some river cruise ships feature bunk beds or berths, you can drift away to sleep in luxurious beds more akin to a boutique hotel than a boat. Typical cabins come with private bathroom facilities, a flat screen satellite television, and a mini safe to keep your belongings secure. Some offer sliding floor-to-ceiling French windows to give you a better view, and all include air conditioning and heating that you can adjust to get the perfect temperature for comfortable cruising.
