Exclusively designed to meet the needs of passengers aged 50 and up, Saga Cruises offers boutique cruising experience. Smaller ships mean a more intimate atmosphere, ideal for making new friends whether you’re travelling solo or with a partner. The crew ratio is 2:3, ensuring world class service round the clock!
The smaller size of Saga Cruise ships means that they’re able to access destinations that other cruise lines can’t, including remote islands and lesser-known ports. You’ll enjoy unique routes without throngs of other tourists. Sail around the Baltic to view the ornate architecture in St Petersburg, or explore out-of-the-way harbours in the British Isles. Find hidden gems in the Mediterranean, enjoy a slower pace of life in the Caribbean, or visit the quaint village and towering fjords of Norway. For something a bit further afield, take a journey to the southern shores of Africa or view Aztec ruins in Central America.
Saga Sapphire

The food on Saga is just super and wine with each meal and a selection of other drinks in the price is well worth the extra cost, which includes transport from your door and insurance.

The majority of the other passengers were friendly, chatty and helpful (I am currently walking with one crutch). Being Saga of course, most were elderly but active, ex-professional types.

Saga Sapphire Final Season - Don't Miss Out!
Mealtimes are always something to look forward to on any day of your cruise, with Saga pulling out all the stops to offer you a compelling selection of formal dining and al fresco treats alike. You can expect continental and regional specialties paired with fine wines, all locally and seasonally sourced to bring you market-fresh flavours. Afternoon teas, late-night buffets and private dining are also on hand.
Cruises are all-inclusive, extending to the range of specialty restaurants as well as the main dining room. This is a unique feature compared to other cruise lines which charge you a supplement for alternative dining options. Seating is similarly flexible, so you can choose to reserve the same table for the duration of your cruise or enjoy open dining in a new seat each evening.
So what’s on the menu? This will depend on the ship and itinerary. Visit the East to West restaurant on the Saga Sapphire or Spirit of Discovery to enjoy more exotic, Asian-influenced fare. The upcoming Spirit of Discovery ship will also feature retro classic like Surf n Turf Fillet and Grilled Dover Sole or Baked Four Onion Soup in the ‘The Club by Jools Holland,’ accompanied by live music and cool cocktails. Or if you like to admire ocean views and take in the fresh air while you dine, visit the Verandah and Grill for al fresco seating. Indoors, there’s a show kitchen where you can watch the chefs hard at work.
In addition to unlimited tea and coffee, you’ll also be able to quaff the wine of your choice at mealtime. These drinks are included with your normal fare, so there’s no need to purchase a separate drinks package. If you wish, you can purchase sommelier-selected wines by the glass or bottle.
When the sun starts to set, the entertainment options heat up aboard your Saga cruise ship. The ship includes a talented team of entertainers to delight you with song and dance routines, theatrical productions, and classical recitals. All ships include a main show lounge to host the festivities, where you’ll enjoy an eclectic programme of entertainment. Guest speakers, comedians, magicians, and cabaret performers are all on the ticket during a Saga cruise, ensuring there’s always something new to take in.
Laugh until your cheeks hurt in Cooper’s Bar, a comedy-themed venue housed on the Saga Sapphire. It’s the ideal location for a pre-show drink or chat with friends, and it also hosts top-notch comedians to entertain you.
If you’re looking for a more intimate production or something a bit different to the main stage entertainment, head to the cosy Drawing Room to see what’s on. This chameleon of a space can transform into a jazz club one night, and a ballroom dancing venue the next!
There’s a bevy of amenities included with your cruise, with the perks starting before you even leave your house. There’s no need to sort out transport for your cruise or deal with parking reservations, because Saga gives you a free chauffeur service from your door to the port. Your bags will be carried for you right to your cabin, giving you a stress-free start to the holiday! If you’re not keen on a chauffeur service, the cruise line will sort out complimentary car parking or provide rail, coach or airplane tickets to get you to the ship in high style.
Despite their smaller size, Saga cruise ships are jam-packed with plenty of recreational facilities designed for your convenience and comfort. Cosy up with a good book from the onboard Library, take in a silver screen classic in the Cinema or keep fit with an exercise class in the Gym. There’s also an onboard Spa offering a full menu of pampering treatments for those days when you just want to relax.
Days are filled not only with offshore excursions to keep you busy, but also with a full programme of intriguing activities tailored to suit most interests. Whether you fancy learning more about your next destination via a lecture or taking part in a keep fit session, there’s plenty to inspire mind and body alike. Make new friends at a painting class or show off your competitive side during a quiz. Just take a look at the Today programme listed each evening, giving you plenty of time to plan the next day’s activities of choice.
Saga Cruises takes all the guesswork out of fees by making their cruises fully all-inclusive. All onboard gratuities are included in the price of your fare, without any added service charges at the end.
There’s a friendly, welcoming vibe onboard a Saga cruise so the dress code matches this attitude. For day-to-day activities and excursions, you can dress in casual resort wear that you’ll be able to move in. However, there’s nothing like getting all dolled up for a night of entertainment, so they do suggest bringing smarter clothes for the evenings.
Formal evenings take place once or twice a week during the cruise. These events call for a tad more glamour, with a long dress and sequinned shrug or pashmina suggested for ladies and a tuxedo and bow tie suggested for gentlemen. Dark suits and dinner jackets are also perfect acceptable!
