In recent years, cruise ships have become a top holiday venture across all age brackets, cruise ships offer endless comfort and entertainment while also ensuring top travel itineraries – and all without the hassle of an airport, however recent news states that the recent surge in cruise ships docking in Dublin port is soon to be capped.

Dublin may be one of Europe’s smaller capital cities, but the city has been known to steal the heart of every visitor, with something for everyone and has long been a favourite destination for  weekend getaways known for its charming streets, colourful doorways, live music and historic architecture.

Ireland’s capital is famous for stunning cathedrals, haunted places, pubs with live music, historical museums, and hidden attractions no wonder it is a popular port for many Mini cruises with a rich heritage of sights such as Dublin Castle, Irish Whiskey Museum and of course Temple Bar and traditional Irish Music Pubs for authentic Irish Guinness!

The Irish capital Dublin has undergone an incredible transformation in the last decade with many modern buildings springing up to add to its historical and cultural appeal.

Dublin’s pubs and bars are world-renowned from the city’s oldest, The Brazen Head, to the newest wine bar. A visit to the Guinness Storehouse and Brewery provides an insight into the history of Ireland’s favourite tipple.

Grafton Street is a shopper’s paradise with a stop at Bewley’s historic coffee house a must for people-watching.

The library at Trinity College is home to the eighth-century Book of Kells, with the National Museum housing exhibits dating back from the Irish Bronze and Iron ages. The city’s literary heritage is celebrated at the adjoining National Library with works of famous Irish writers such as Beckett, Joyce, Swift and Yeats collected together.- No wonder that it has been a favourite cruise port!

Dublin port company said that following the rising number of cruise ships stopping at the port, it will limit the number of cruise ships that can stop there annually to 80. There are 160 cruise ships due to stop at the port in 2019 and 140 bookings for far for 2020.

Starting in 2021, the Port of Dublin will limit cruise calls to two large ships per week for the summer season, one large ship per week in the winter and zero turnarounds

 

So if you want to visit this beautiful city you might need to book sooner rather than later!
