How Much Would YOU Bid?

In light of airlines ‘Bid to Upgrade’ system it looks like the cruise lines are set to follow starting with NCL on selected ships and sailings

Norwegian Cruise Line said it will allow select passengers to bid on cabin upgrades prior to sailing but after making final payment.

You are invited to participate their  Upgrade Advantage program, which gives you the opportunity to submit offers to upgrade your existing stateroom.

This exclusive offer is only available on a limited number of staterooms on your cruise.

In just a few clicks, you can submit an offer to upgrade your stateroom on your upcoming cruise.

After bidding a “nominal” amount, guests will be notified with an immediate confirmation email of a winning bid. If a bid has not been accepted, guests can improve it or cancel it up to 48 hours prior to departure.

Making offers on multiple rooms will increase your chances of getting upgraded, but you’ll only ever pay for one upgrade.

Here’s how it works:

1. Name your bid to upgrade your stateroom on your upcoming cruise, then click Continue.
2. We’ll notify you via email if your request for an upgrade has been approved.

If your offer is accepted, you’ll be charged for the upgrade. If not, you pay nothing and keep the stateroom you have.

For example passengers booked on a 7 night Med Epic sailing in a Balcony cabin have these options –

The Haven Deluxe Owner’s Suite with Large Balcony (H2) £0-£2500

The Haven 2 Bedroom Family Villa with Balcony (H4) £0-£2145

The Haven Courtyard Penthouse with Balcony (H5) £0-£1430

The Haven Aft-Facing Penthouse with Balcony (H6) £0-1430

The Haven Spa Suite with Balcony (H9) £0-1430

Mini-Suite Stateroom £0-£290

The only potential drawback to the program is that bids can be placed on cabin type (ocean-view, balcony, mini-suite, suite, The Haven) only – not on specific categories within each type or on specific cabin numbers.
