Cruising out of Amsterdam? Travel in Style with Eurostar in Business Premier!

Many cruise lines now have cruise departures out of the port of Amsterdam; it can be a perfect way to cut down on days at sea, when cruising to the Baltic and Norwegian Fjords, and opens up more options than would be available if you stick to UK departure ports.

Eurostar have recently introduced a new direct service from London St Pancras to Amsterdam, which only takes 3 hours and 41 minutes!  You have the usual choice of Standard Class, Standard Premier, or Business Premier.  Standard Premier seats are great value, as they are essentially the same as the Business Premier seats; the main differences being that you don’t have the use of the business class departure lounge, and you don’t get the same menu.  Your ticket rules will also be more restricted, and you will need to check-in a little earlier.

I had the pleasure of travelling in Business Premier class a couple of weeks ago, and had a wonderful trip to the continent.  You never know who you might bump into in the Business Premier departure lounge, and on this occasion, I ended up sitting next to Iron Maiden’s legendary drummer, Nicko McBrain, so the least i could do was have a little chat, whilst we waited for boarding!

By the time you would have checked-in for a flight (2 hours prior to departure), you’ll already be over halfway to Amsterdam by Eurostar, plus you’ll be arriving right in the heart of the city, and closer to the cruise port than you would if you landed at Schipol airport.  Why not even consider a couple of nights pre or post-cruise stay in the city itself, seeing as you have arrived right in the centre of town?  Many people forget to appreciate the embarkation port, and are so quick to embark the ship, they forget what they may be missing!
