Regent Seven Seas  Explorer “The Worlds most Expensive Cruise Ship”

Friday saw the last showing of the Chanel 5 programme “Secrets of the Worlds Most Expensive Cruise Ships” and 3 colleagues Charlene, Erica, Trudy and myself from cruise.co. got our own sneak peek as we were very fortunate to be invited onboard. We saw first hand what she has to offer and although I’m fortunate in my job to visit many cruise ships this has to be the most stunning ship I’ve been on. Regent offers an unrivalled experience with every luxury included.

She is an all-suite ship at only 55,254 tonnes and accommodating 750 passengers. The attention to detail is second to none from the Versace crockery to the stunning Murano glass chandeliers, down to the elegant suites and amazing restaurants. You will not be left disappointed.

We got to see all areas of the ship even the exclusive dining area “The Study” where the guests staying in the Regent suite get to dine and they can have other guests to dine with them if they choose. There is no class distinction as to where you get to dine all guests onboard can dine in any of the restaurants.  Speciality restaurants are  included in the fare, however some require reservations.  My favourite onboard was the Pacific Rim a Pan-Asian restaurant however I must say the Compass Rose was a close second with its stunning chandeliers and a lovely light and airy feel. We ate in the Chartreuse restaurant which is a lovely intimate restaurant the food was amazing. I was impressed by the amount of space between tables and there were a lot of tables for two if you wanted that romantic dinner. They have no fixed dining so you can always dine whenever with whomever.

There were other options onboard such as the Pool grill which offered alfresco dining and served regional delicacies, so you could try that freshly caught fish of the day on the barbecue, you could dine there for lunch or a casual dinner I love nothing better than dining alfresco on a warm summer evening. La veranda with stunning ocean views, Prime 7 an elegant steak house and not forgetting 24 hours room service meaning you will never go hungry.

I can certainly see why Regent Seven Seas Explorer has the status of the Most Expensive Cruise Ship she certainly has that Wow factor.

Next time I’ll let you know more about this amazing ship.

  1. Having sailed with Regent previously, I enjoyed the TV series. However, the title was misleading and gave the wrong impression. It would deter prospective clients, who might consider that a Regent cruise is only suitable for super wealthy passengers. It would have been far better, if the producers had concentrated upon the undoubted quality of the product, rather than suggesting that a Regent cruise is the most expensive you can buy. In fact, it offers good value for money, when you consider the price includes so many elements, which would be expensive extras on most other cruise lines (such as drinks packages, specialty restaurants and unlimited shore excursions, to name but a few).
