My Avalon Impression Experience

Avalon Impression did not leave me disappointed she has beautiful river view suites as I told you last time and standards of facilities and really high. River cruise’s if you have not been on one are a lot more laid back and have fewer staterooms and facilities compared to ocean cruising however the standards do not fall short.

She has one restaurant which features open dining and serves buffet breakfast and lunch and al a carte dinner. The dinner times can differ slightly depending on if there are any excursions in the evening. They do have a grill on the top deck however this was not in operation due to the weather. I can imagine when it’s warm it will be lovely to sit and watch the world go by whilst having lunch or dinner up on the top deck. Full board meals are included along with beer wine and soft drinks with lunch and dinner. I must say the food standards were very high and we even had a galley tour to check out where it was prepared. The drinks were very reasonable and they offered a happy hour every day either pre or post-dinner.

The Panorama lounge is the hub of the ship with lovely seating and panoramic views of the spectacular scenery. There was evening entertainment which was low key on most evenings, however, there was a band playing and a guest singer one evening. Here our Cruise Director did a port talk every evening before dinner giving you a rundown of what is happening the following day. This area also had a continental breakfast area and offered a light lunch and dinner option.

The ship had a lovely coffee lounge at the aft of the ship where you could get hot and cold drinks 24 hours a day including cakes and cookies.. it also had a lovely seating area forward to relax in. The top deck had ample sun loungers and a hot tub should weather permit.

I often get asked about not booking trips before you get on board and will you be disappointed about not getting what you trip you want, on Avalon, they seemed to be able to accommodate everyone and no one was disappointed. The cruise I did was an Active and discovery cruise and offered a good choice of excursions every day, Active could be cycling canoeing or hiking If you chose discover you would be doing cooking classes or wine and beer tasting. They also always had a classic excursion. You could take out bikes at no additional cost. Which was a lovely way to see the surrounding area?

River cruising is something I would defiantly consider if you like to be right in the heart of the county or city it gives you the opportunity to see beautiful countryside and dock right in the heart of the town or city.

Next time I’ll let you know about what else I got up to
