Some Like It HOT !!!!

This weekend saw the annual Chilli Fiesta take place on the outskirts
of Chichester. The setting is the stunning West Dean Gardens and this year they offered the option of camping over in tents or caravans.

With over 250 different varieties of Chilli on offer such as Hungarian Hot Wax, Rooster Spur, Numex Twilight, Pinocchio’s Nose and the Dorset Naga.
The Chilli Fiesta hosts over 140 stalls where you can buy quirky gifts, chilli plants, seeds, food and produce. There is food demonstrations and live entertainment throughout the weekend and obviously lots of sample tasting to be had.

I am not one for   and  food so didn’t go this year however my family did. They brought back different chilli flavour fudges, sauces and seeds. I tried one piece of the hot chilli white chocolate fudge and had to have a large glass of water afterwards.

This got me to thinking about the different spices used on board a cruise as we all know that food plays a large part in our cruise experience. What different restaurants are available for those who like the spicier things in life.

Some of the restaurants found on board are:

Cunard: Queen Elizabeth: The Lido restaurant at night transforms into Aztec (Mexican) or Jasmine (Asian)

Carnival: Carnival Breeze and Carnival Liberty: Blue Iguana Cantina (Mexican)

MSC Divina and Preziosa: Sacramento (Mexican)

MSC Fantasia: Tex Mex El Sombrero.

Royal Caribbean: Allure and Radiance of the Seas: Rita’s Cantina (Mexican)

P&O Cruises have the twice wining Michelin Star chef Atul Kochhar restaurants on 3 of their ships: Azura: Sindhu (Indian Fusion) and Ventura and Arcadia: East (Oriental)

On many of the ships other restaurants available are such as Asian, Japanese, Tapas or international buffets.

As some of these restaurants have an additional cover charge – do you tend to eat in them or just dine in the main restaurant? If you do dine in them is it worth the extra charge and what was the food like?

if you choose to dine in the main restaurant then I would love to know your thoughts on the specialty restaurants and why you choose the main dining room.
