Let the ratings war commence!

So this Saturday sees the fake tanned and sequin dressed celebrities take to the floor again ready to take battle with Gary Barlow, Sharon Osbourne and their wannabe pop stars.

It also is the start of the battle of my will power – every year I vow not to get engrossed in watching X Factor or Strictly Come Dancing and yet every year my Saturday nights soon become nights in, in front of the TV during the winter months watching both shows. And if I should go out on Saturday night then both channels get recorded or the replays watched back the following day.

This year as I know I will give in I have already set the Freeview box for Strictly and the X factor and am looking forward to listening to Craig Revel-Horwood’s put downs, Sharon Osbourne’s “Fabulous” and Len Goodman saying “seven” .

Even if you really don’t care and don’t watch the shows – from now leading up to Christmas you know that the newspapers and magazines are going to be filled with stories of the celebrities and also the X Factor wannabes. They will then feature on daytime shows such as Lorraine, This Morning, It takes two and any other programme they can gain an extra 5 minutes of fame on.

So in my eyes there is no way of getting away from it so one might as well watch the shows and at least know who everyone is talking about,
