Miami , whats it all about!

So as a lot of the cruises for the Caribbean and Mexico go out of Miami , I thought I would get the low down on it for you. My friends Phil and Lesley had a fab 2 days here before their cruise and said they fell in love with the city and all she has to offer. Miami is a major port city on the Atlantic coast of south Florida in the southeastern United States. It has a population of over 5.5 million and one of the most densely populated city’s in America. It ranks no 2 on the tourism scale after New York. With over 300 sky scrappers its impressive sky line is a sight to be seen. For over 2 decades it has been the no1 cruise passenger port in the world.

Sun-kissed beaches and art-deco beauties make an alluring backdrop to Miami’s other charms , and was the home of Miami Vice and                C.S.I. Miami . David Caruso certainly has my vote, this is only a few of my favorites. (in keeping with my theme of fabulous TV dramas.) not forgetting the sunbathing Baywatch set on the beach here.  There have also been a plethora of films filmed on the beach and around Miami.

Bodyguard, 2 Fast and 2 furious , Bad Boys 1 &2, Ace Ventura pet detective, just to name a few and of course James Bond Casino Royal was filmed here too. You never know what is been filmed and who might be there (keep your eyes peeled).

The hotels on Ocean drive date back to the 1930’s with some of the most beautiful art deco areas in the area.

Once the sun sets the party people come out to play, there are some fantastic clubs , restaurants and bars along the coastal area. Few cities are as blessed as Miami when it comes to natural beauty. Sparkling shores lapped by aquamarine waters set the stage for a memorable array of adventures, from sunrise strolls along peaceful stretches of Mid-Beach to scenic paddles in search of manatees off Virginia Key. You can look for colorful bird species while walking the trails of Oleta River State Park, or simply enjoy some downtown greenery while lounging in Bayfront Park.  You can even reach the everglades from here or take a small boat and see the sights from the ocean.

Then we have sport, famous for the Miami dolphins American football (Flash Gordon had a t shirt with that on) and the Florida Panthers Ice hockey, there is again a wide choice of games to see . Don’t forget David Beckham led the charge on Soccer as the Americans call it, not forgetting the Nascar racing, so something for everyone. There are over 80 parks and Gardens in the city for the gardeners among you to soak up the beautiful varied plant life. There is a Zoo and a sea life centre too.

So where can I cruise to from here??  Well to be honest were can you not cruise too would be more to the point.
