DO NOT MISS THE FLIGHT !!!!

Hi All, I have probably touched on this subject before, but twice this week had near misses with flights and cruises for my guests. So I wanted to go through some tips with you all. I live up north so nearest airport that I normally can get a flight from is 3 hours drive time on a good day and Southampton a good 7 Hours with a break in the drive. Nobody wants to arrive for their long-awaited cruise like this :

Please remember about traffic when travelling to the airport, if the flight is leaving before tea time, I always drive to the airport the day before and stay over. I always think that spending maybe £60 to £100 extra is better than losing your cruise if there is an accident on the motorway that means you miss your flight. can you imagine missing the flight and then losing your cruise ? or having to pay out extra to fly to the next port of call and missing some of the cruise and the extra expense.

Flights do not normally wait for people to arrive. Please remember that you are supposed to check in at least 2 hours before the flight. I also think that 90% of the time the hotel includes parking so win-win.

If its a busy time of the day you are travelling remember to add on a couple hours to your normal journey time.

With regards to arriving late at the cruise terminal, again the cruise will not wait for you. They have a time they have to leave and that’s that. However, if you have booked a coach through the company you are travelling with and it’s delayed then the cruise has to wait for you.

Again if travelling a long distance think about an overnight in the port. Southampton has some hotels that include parking and are very reasonable.

All in all be prepared, Brownie statement I know but after 2 close calls for my customers and lots of stress for them and me, please plan your journey for all eventualities.  relaxed and Happy is how I want my guests to be………………………………..
