More on Indy and I am sorry….

I’m finally back I apologize profusely to all my customers who thought I was only going to be off for a week and must admit so did I.

I have had a small operation on my shoulder that turned out to be a little bit more painful than I thought it would be but now I’m back and raring to go, So to pick up where I left off, I did promise some more details on Independence of the Seas from when I was on board and the next bit is going to be all about that.

So what did we do while we were on board Independence of the Seas well obviously we tried as much as we possibly could while we were on board. We were lucky enough to have a ship tour. I would thoroughly recommend it to anybody who wants to see behind the scenes. We started in the dining room we had a good walk through the dining room and so big it is it’s bigger than I thought. We then moved from there through the kitchens had a chat with the chef who was absolutely fabulous and he apologized actually that the food hasn’t been quite up to scratch the night before but we had no problems on our table.

From there into the engine room obviously passing through security first, not the actual nuts and bolts of the engine room but where it’s actually all master-planned from. We had a talk from one of the engineers who talked us through all the screens and what everything does.

We moved from there to the waste disposal which was amazing to see what they can actually recycle. The gentleman that work down there in the waste disposal must be a very very strong indeed lots of lifting and lots of different things that they do actually recycle, from paper to glass and the food is disposed of too. Obviously, everything is taken off when they get into a port that will accept the recycling that they have. All the staff we came across looked happy in their work.

The last place we visited was across the bridge and wow what a place to see most of us got a chance to sit in the captain’s chair and see all the different TV screens that they need just to manoeuvre the shape and make sure that obviously there’s nothing in front of the ship there are lookout points, these are manned constantly when at sea. All of the banners that they get from every port that they visit are all displayed there for you in the photo below.

Everything is done on the screens except the steering in port which is done with a little joystick, one on either side of the bridge. We had a fantastic time and our guide was amazing.

So that was Indy, I am back in 2 weeks with more from the US. Feel free to ask any questions you might have on Independence of the Seas…….
