Thank you Cruise and Maritime.

I had to write this post to give credit where credit is due. It’s not really a post that I want to write as it shows me in a bad light but I can swallow my pride in order to say ‘Thank You’ to the Cruise and Maritime Lost Property Department.

Just before Christmas we held our annual conference and Christmas party on board Cruise and Maritime’s Marco Polo. This was a 3 night sailing to Dublin. It is quite intense with full days in the conference room being updated on our business processes and presentations by cruise lines, coupled with partying at night.  At my age 3 full on days takes its toll!

This year we also had very rough seas and as we set sail from Dublin for the return journey the captain announced 12 hours of large waves ahead and warned all ladies against wearing high heals. We lost around 70% of the ship to seasickness and it was certainly an experience.

It was during this return in my over partied, tired and queasy state that I had to do my packing and somehow I left a drawer full of clothes. I really don’t know how this happened as I remember checking the drawers but clearly not well enough. It was only when I was unpacking that I realised I no longer had my green velvet Princess Fiona dress, worn for our Movies Theme Fancy Dress night along with a number of other items.

I contacted Cruise & Maritime and was given the e-mail address for the lost property team. I did have to contact them a couple of times before I received an initial response but after that I was kept informed that they thought my clothes had been found and then that they had safely made it to head office. They then offered an amazing service, offering to post them back free of charge. I opted for the very reasonable £5 signed for service. I had honestly expected (and deserved) to pay £20 plus to cover postage and admin fees.

So I would just like to say an huge thank you to my cabin steward and ship staff for putting my clothes somewhere safe and to Abbie in the lost property team for returning them to me. I am sorry for the inconvenience that I caused.
