Oh no….Oceania are refurbishing their ships.

Normally I read about major refurbishments and I get all excited,  as ships become old and tired and customers do not get value for money and are unhappy with their holidays. A shiny, spruced up ship  makes the product feel fresh again, adds to the pleasure  on board and encourages cruisers to stay loyal to a brand yet feel that they are getting something new.

So why am I upset that Oceania are refurbishing their ships? Simply because they are my parents favourite cruise line and now they will have me searching for more holidays for them and will be spending my inheritance as they try and decide which ship now looks the best.

Oceania have announced the ‘Re-inspiration of Classic Elegance’ across 4 of their ships – the Regatta, Insignia, Nautica and the Sirena, the latter of which only joined the fleet in 2016 so has recently undergone major changes already. The changes are major with every suite being gutted and every single surface replaced with new and in public areas all furnishings, fabrics and light fittings are being renewed.

The guest experience on board is being enhanced with new dining experiences and re-imagined menu’s.

To implement their changes Oceania are using over 1000 artisans and craftsmen and spending over 100 million US dollars. The will be installing 1,400 new marble bathrooms and 12,000 new sofa’s and chairs.

The first of the ships to be completed will be the Insignia, you can sail in her classic elegance from the 7th December 2018 and each ships re-inspiration sailing debut is listed below;

Insiginia – Cuba Collage – 7th December 2018 – 10 days

Sirena – Medieval Mediterranean – 19 May 2019 – 10 days

Regatta – Colourful Caribbean – 24 Sep 2019 – 20 days

Nautica – Itinerary to be announced – June 2020

I wonder which my parent’s will pick first?
