Joining Equinox After Her Refit

Our hotel stay complete in Miami, it was now time to join Celebrity Equinox on our Caribbean trip around the Southern Islands and we were both very much looking forward to it, especially as Equinox had her refit in May.

Celebrity Equinox went into drydock in Cadiz, Spain, for 29 days (starting on May 4, 2019)

Many of the upgrades made to the ship were intended to enhance the Caribbean cruise experience, such as the new Retreat for suite passengers. The Retreat is an exclusive area for passengers staying in suites and includes a Retreat Sundeck, an exclusive sun-soaked hideaway, and The Retreat Lounge which now occupies the space where Michael’s Club previously stood.

Also, Equinox now features the line’s popular Le Petit Chef experience and an all-new Craft Social bar as well as suites across the ship. We had a balcony cabin and the upgrades were noticed in the bathroom area and not the cabin as such.

The  Passport Bar on Deck 3 off the Grand Foyer has been completely redesigned to reflect the casual elegance of a mega yacht lounge,  a new venue called Craft Social (formerly the Gastrobar) has more than 40  beers, wine and cocktails on tap, along with comfort food favourites, amid flat-screen TVs and leather seating.

Other upgrades include new S.T.E.M.- for young cruisers onboard in the kids’ club, and new treatments and products at The Spa by Canyon Ranch, including three new Signature Couples’ treatments, Dyson Supersonic blow-outs, Mink and Rapid Lash services, and new customized facials by Reveal Machine.

I didn’t visit the children’s club so can not comment on the upgrades to those, however, we did see the other areas, I personally wanted to see the cabins having more of an upgrade particularly the carpeting and furnishing which was only for the Suite Cabins, so I was very disappointed, but with that said, she is still a nice ship.
