Carnival Cruise Flood Chaos!

This week I learned of a story that involved great organisation from a whole crew officers and captain which ensured no life’s were at risk at sea.

The Carnival ship had a break in the the fire suppression system which resulted in severe flooding, on cabin deck passengers were wading through ankle deep in water. this must have been unbelievably scary as at that time they would not have know what part of the ship had been compromised.

The team responded very promptly and made sure that the area was safe and cleaned up in the quickest possible fashion. over 100 of the effected passengers were put up in the solarium and given yoga mats to sleep on as makeshift mattresses.

One passenger shot a video which racked up a staggering 464,000 views on Facebook shocking many online users.

One Facebook customer wrote that her friend is on deck 8 and that she is completely safe, others used the opportunity to praise the hardworking staff at carnival who had the matter cleaned up within just 6 hours.

Carnival promptly put out a statement advising “the water main break had no effect on the safe operation of the ship and the safety and security of our guests and crew is our top priority.

Carnival went on to compensate over 100 people with full refunds as their cabins were effected. they even discounted their next cruise and offer to fly passengers home early which 2 of the 100 passengers took them up on.

my thoughts on this is that a situation like this could occur on any ship anywhere in the world. All you can really ask for is that everyone responds promptly and takes care of your well being in the way that Carnival cruise lines did on this occasion.

Have you ever had an experience like this on board a cruise ship?

I would love to hear from you in the comments section.
