Bricking it over Brexit

If like me you follow current affairs you will have not been able to avoid the recent Brexit negotiations with a lot of flexing the proverbial muscles to and from Brustles.

This isn’t a blog about my view on Brexit neither will it be a blog full of predictions on the outcome but I do want to address a couple of underlining points.

The cruise industry is in a period of growth and expansion with Cunard, P&O, MSC, Princess and Royal Caribbean to name but a few adding not one or two but in some circumstances 4 new ships to their fleet between 2018-2022.

larger proportions of the world are cruising and more new customers are being attracted to cruising for the very first time.

My view is that we are about to embark on a 3-6 month window of passengers sitting on the fence over Brexit. As ever with elections and or unprecedented decisions like this it tends to have a lot of indecision in that effects consumer confidence re house prices, food prices, inflation, high street spending and indeed booking holidays. I do actually see this as a huge positive for your the discerning traveler.

Why is this you ask?

Well we are about to embark on a very tough 6 months of negotiations with Europe and all that back and forth will no doubt fluctuate the pound and give varying degrees of confidence for us UK holiday makers. Cruise lines will naturally want to sell those cruises and we want to continue to sell dream Tailor made and bucket list holidays so I can personally see more flash sales and commitment from the cruise lines to continue filling these super size ships every single week.

I think for you and I that translates to some last minute bargains something that has almost left the industry over recent years.

I get a sneaky suspicion that the heritage of Cunard and P&O are taking a gamble that the best of British will provale and we will be stronger than ever post Brexit with more customers choosing British ships and sailings from Southampton with The British currency on board.

If this is not the case then they would not have launched more ships that are bigger than ever.

I like you will wait in anticipation but if I am honest it wont stop people going on holiday. Life is all too short in my view.
