Ashes to Ashes She’s Gonna Blow!

Do you remember the Huge Volcano in Iceland that erupted back in 2010? You should do it caused some of the most severe issues we have faced in the travel industry not to mention the biggest disruptions to all European flights in as many years as most of us can remember.

Well that volcano was called Eyjafjallajokull (yes you pronounced it correctly)

When she erupted literally thousands of our passengers were stranded overnight in the whole of Europe. A giant Ash cloud descended triggering further worldwide disruptions.

Well guess what???

Iceland is home to some of The worlds largest volcano’s and the big sister Katla is ready to burst!!! she is Icelandic for the word Kettle and true to her name she is letting off some steam right now.

According to the experts she is responsible for 12 and 24 kilotons of carbon dioxide everyday only beaten by two other volcano globally she is currently responsible for over 5% of the worlds volcanic emissions.

There must be the right conditions for a volcanic eruption including a build up of Magma to release this quantity of gas.

Do you know the impact on Europe or the rest of the world if Ketla boils over? well that depends on the conditions including the pressure and wind direction but its clear you cant mess with mother nature.

Around the world right now we have so many volcano’s that are overdue eruptions including Hawaii, Italy, and Santorini in Greece. Not to mention The Yellow Stone Nation Park in The USA described as a super volcano.

Do you remember where you was when the volcano erupted in Iceland in 2010? My mum very nearly had 3 weeks extra on her honeymoon in Jamaica due to grounded flights. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I personally think over the next 10 years planet Earth is set for a drastic mix of natural disasters all of which are linked to climate change.

Most people agree its not a question of If but When.
