This weeks cruising news started off with the exciting details that Royal Caribbean has opened their new $250 private Island in the Bahamas, “Perfect day at Cococay”. The grand opening took place over the weekend and now 11, perhaps 12 Royal Caribbean ships will call there. The Perfect Day at Cococay is only available for Royal Caribbean guests and is an exclusive private cruise destination. The reason I say perhaps 12 is due to breaking news; Royal Caribbean has cancelled Independence of the Seas 2020 ex UK programme and have re-deployed her to the Caribbean, her new home port now being Fort Lauderdale. Indy is a firm British favourite, sailing from the port of Southampton for several seasons carrying thousands of excited and loyal passengers, she will be a Hugh loss to the UK industry, with thousands having their cruise holiday cancelled and looking for alternative arrangements.
But back to the “Perfect Day” at Cococay”, for those who have sailed with RCI to the Caribbean you may well have enjoyed a visit to Labadee in Haiti. We visited the other year when on board Anthem of the Seas, to be honest the private Island was the highlight of the trip, the day was just perfect in every way, private beaches, BBQ’s, live music, parasailing to name a few of the activities available to you.
Now a “Perfect Day” takes things to a whole new level and I certainly will be putting a call here on my “to do” list.
