Spirit of Discovery is Here!

You may be aware from all the talk of the trade that Saga took delivery of their new “Boutique” ship last week. The new flag ship for the brand is in keeping with the country house style, built exclusively for Saga’s target market and the first new build for the UK audience for 2019 . Carrying no more than 999 passengers (a strange number), her all-balcony cabins, opulent public rooms, speciality restaurants of which there are several and not to mention the sophisticated entertainment spaces, Spirit of Discovery will provide you with a boutique experience that is second to none.

The ship was previewed to the travel trade last week prior to being Christened in Dover by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

In today’s new build era, big is best and you find the majority of the Cruise companies now build their ships to be ‘Bigger, Bolder and Better’ than the competition; trying to stay at the top of the market with feature first additions. This is not the case with Spirit of discovery and Saga seem to have found a Niche market where smaller is better, more personalised and port focused.

Some of the itinerary’s she will undertake in her Inaugural year are: French and  Spanish Flavours, Norway, Scandinavia, Canary Islands and Casablanca, Gourmet Spain, Atlantic Isles and Roman Italy and Sardinia are to name just a few. The added bonus is the are all sailing from the UK.
