Another Edge to the Market?

Celebrity Cruises has just announced they have just signed a new deal for a fifth Edge-class ship. Celebrity Edge was launched last year and there are three Edge-class ships scheduled for delivery in 2020,21, 22 and the latest signing scheduled to be delivered in Autumn 24.  Celebrity Cruises‘ fleet of cruise ships are ranked among the top in the world and the arrival of Celebrity Edge was a market changer in so many ways. These ships are Revolutionary on every level,  setting a new standard of luxury and innovation at sea.

On board the Edge class ships is an industry first and highlight of any cruise, the outward facing ” Magic Carpet”! I remember the initial press release a couple of years ago when Celebrity announced they were to build a new design of ship and details starting filtering through regarding the exciting on board venues and activities. I did think it looked an eye sore, brash, orange outdoor venue why would you include something like this on a state of the art cruise ship? I have to admit my initial thoughts have been proven wrong and this feature is a wonderful addition to the “Edge” class, all my customers have raved about it and is a must if you are lucky enough to have booked your voyage on either Edge or Apex.

The size of a tennis court, and reaching heights of 13 storeys above sea level, it is the world’s first cantilevered, floating platform. Majestically situated on the starboard side, it is designed with comfortable seating, a full bar, and space for live music performances – so it truly is a destination itself. This spectacular space opens to several decks and transforms into a new and exciting venue depending on where it’s positioned.

Another hallmark of the class are the new cabin categories,  Celebrity have introduced single cabins along with Edge staterooms with infinite balconies and not forgetting the twin level “Edge” villas with outdoor plunge pools which are an impressive 739sqft.

Celebrity Edge will have a short season from Southampton before starting her Summer itineraries from Rome. Apex will be making Southampton home for her five first ever sailings, starting with an inaugural 8 Night Spain and Portugal cruise over the 2020 Easter break. Further itineraries include a 7 Night Norwegian Fjords cruise, and an exciting new pairing of 10 Night Capital Cities Cruises featuring Europe’s Capitals of  Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Paris . She will then head to Rome for the rest of the summer season.
