Virtual Reality Trampolining…AT SEA!

As many of you know I recently got a few sneaky nights in on Independence of the Seas last month after her multi million dollar refurbishment to try all of the new facilities on offer. The new additions were ideas suggested by guests who have previously sailed on Indy as shes fondly known (believe it or not those feedback forms you fill in on board don’t go into the deep dark depths of Narnia never to see the light of day!) which I think is great, its nice to know that our opinions do matter to the big guns upstairs.

The refurbishment came with lots of exciting new additions to Indy’s already impressive list of offering….

This week we’re talking new activities.

Splash Away Bay. The ultimate interactive water park for the little cruisers (although plenty of Dads were having a go too) equipped with waterslides, water cannons, fountains and of course the legendary tipping bucket. Right by the side of the bay is Fish & Ships. A new kiosk serving trays of fish and chips along with ice cold beers, cocktails and other tastyy tipples so Mum and Dad can chill out whilst still watching the little tinkers. You don’t want to be sitting too close on a windy day mind, your fish and ships will get a tad soggy.

Perfect Storm. A twin water slide stretching 3 stories high with twists and turns all the way down. You can even see out to the ocean below through glass panels if of course you dare to look. I didn’t. I’m a shut my eyes and scream for my life kind of girl. The water slides are included within the cruise fare so no extra pennies to budget for there.

Sky Pad. A huge virtual reality trampoline pod. I have to say you do look and feel slightly ridiculous strapped in to a harness bouncing up and down with a big set of yellow goggles on your head but that aside, it is a MUST. Never did I imagine I would be bouncing around craters in space or being rained on my sweets!! Its currently free of charge but Royal Caribbean are monitoring its popularity, it may become chargeable in the near future.

Observatorium. A little like an escape room. Players have an hour to solve the clues to help a professor who is lost in space. Sadly we didn’t get to play due to time restrictions of the game and the amount of guests wanting to play it but it looked great fun, at $19.99 a person though it may not be on top of everyone’s list.

Laser Tag. Find some friends, grab a (laser) gun and get blasting the opposition away from taking control of Planet Z – the last remaining planet for light years around. Studio B is the host for the game and turns into a glow in the dark playground for the big kids amongst us. Great fun for all ages and no charge to play.

I’m sure you will agree those are some pretty fantastic additions for one refurbishment. Watch out for the next instalment where we’ll talk about the exciting new places to tickle the taste buds 🙂
