The Pride Of Britain – Southampton 2015

Wow, what a month this has been  . We have learned that in 2015 the port of Southampton will become  home to some of the Biggest,  and some of the most Innovative cruises we have ever seen , does it make you proud to be British especially as Britain has been named as having the biggest cruise market in Europe.

Royal Caribbean, P&O and Princess Cruises have all recently announced that they will be making Southampton the home port for the pride of their fleet. I am not on my own when it comes to saying that the sailings on the new ships, arriving early next year, will be popular. The rush to prebook has been like every Next Clothing store on Boxing day, completely manic!!

Anthem Of The Seas, Royal Caribbeans brand new Quantam Class ship, with its Dodgems at Sea and the Aptly named ‘North Star’ has been the first to debut herself and has gone on sale to Crown and Anchor at 7am this morning. Two hours later the majority of cabins were waitlisted. This therefore speaks for itself.

With the heavily anticipated launch of Britannia in March we expect much of the same . If you want my opinion and after witnessing what I have today then my advice would be to book as early as you can, especially if you need a cabin for 3 or 4 passengers.

British holidaymakers have made the UK the cruise capital of the continent,  the port of Southampton is now named as the busiest port in Europe and with 1.5 million of us passing through each year and the cruise industry continuing to boom, filling these bigger cruise ships of the future  doesn’t seem to be much of an issue, for now.

So the economy is booming , as is the demand for these super liners but what is your view.

P&O ‘S BRITANNIA, ROYAL CARIBBEAN’S ANTHEM OR THE ROYAL PRINCESS, ONE OF THESE SUPERLINERS WILL APPEAL TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF US BUT WHY? APART FROM THE OBVIOUS, WHAT IS IT ABOUT ONE OF THESE SHIPS THAT ATTRACT US TO BOOKING SO EARLY?

There really is a sense of pleasure that the industry has  grown despite everything. The cruise lines have been trying to battle the economic downturn by attracting younger travellers and families alike by ensuring their ships offer as many entertainment options as possible, and after the mayhem today I think we can safely say its working!!

With the facts speaking for themselves, I firmly believe that  we should be proud of what we have achieved in the cruise industry as a country and with Southampton leading the way in 2015 , I can only imagine thats the cruising industry has some exciting times ahead.

Holly xx
