14FEB2015 V 14MAR2015

Two dates that will be in everyone’s diaries with two very different things in mind and Velentine’s Day is definitely not it!!! Two dates that will undoubtedly have us rushing out of the house. Intrigued!

14th February 2015

A literature student Anastasia Steele meets a handsome, yet tormented, billionaire named Christian Grey and although it may not be hitting cinemas for another year yet, that hasn’t stopped 50 Shades of Grey fans getting excited about the upcoming film.

It means that fans of the best-selling E.L. James novels can officially begin the one year countdown to the film’s highly-anticipated release. 50 Shades of Grey has become a global phenomenon and has sold over 70 million copies worldwide making it one of the fastest selling books of all time.

I myself was hidden away in a dark corner , spending hour after hour taking in everything that was of the trilogy Fifty Shades. Husbands were left abandoned while there wives lives were turned upside down as they allowed themselves to be seduced by Mr Grey ! . I can appreciate many relationships were ignited due to the popularity of the books. So what does the fastest selling book of all time have in common with the next date for your diary.

14th March 2015

The biggest cruise ship ever built for the British market will woo potential cruisers with a raft of top chefs when it sets sail in on its maiden voyage on the 14th March 2015.

Its taken four years of planning from P&O cruises and  the 3,600-passenger ship Britannia will also draw on the company’s 175-year heritage to bring a thoroughly modern look and feel to British-style cruising from Southampton.

February 14’s float-out ceremony (when the hull of a ship meets water for the first time) has brought a very busy time for P&O this  week , even though Britannia doesn’t set sail until 14th March 2015, the demand has proved that the whole marketing campaign has been very successful!

Britannia’s keel was laid in May 2013 , she was named in London in September, her new livery was announced in January and two days before the float-out, the “Britannia experience”  revealed a fine selection of “food heroes” ! Eric Lanlard and new recruit, Saturday Kitchen star James Martin, who will launch the first cookery school on a British ship will top the line up of Celebrity Masterchefs. The following day pre-registration for the 3,600-passenger ship’s maiden cruises opened, generating more calls in a single day than in the entire first week of P&O’s last newly built cruise ship, Azura, when she went  on sale in 2010.

So there you have it, two dates that have broken records due to the demand of each and every one of us, one way or another. I for one will be rushing to the cinema on the 14th February 2015 and hopefully flying to Southampton on the 14th March 2015 to join Britannia on her 14 night Western Mediterranean voyage and who will be joining me?  Why,  James Martin and Eric Lanlard of course. Two weeks with these handsome food hero’s will I still want Mr Grey. Only time will tell. The countdown has  begun.

If you would like to join Mr Martin, Mr Lanlard and hopefully myself 🙂 on Britannia’a maiden voyage then please email or call me and I will happily book you on board! Prices out now!

I look forward to hearing from you.

xx
