I’m a World Cup Wag ;-)

I say the term ‘Wag’ loosely as  although I am not dating a premiership footballer 🙁 , I will however be married to the World Cup for the next 31 days. I have even taken annual leave so I don’t miss a match!! Yes some girls actually do love the game but unfortunately and I don’t like to admit but the sexist views that women wont be tuning into the world cup could well be true. Apparently only 24% of women will be following the World Cup this year and although an increase on the last World Cup , according to some women the World Cup will have no affect on their schedules.

What about the Patriotism this brings, for one whole month it seems the whole of the country will unite with one thing on our minds, not to be knocked out in the first round , anything after that we are grateful for!! For all of us that will be tuning in here is the full schedule of every match

So while we get into the spirit of what for most of us will take over our lives for the next 31 days how about some fun and interesting facts about the World Cup that you may not know.

1. This is the 2nd time Brazil has hosted the World Cup, the first time was in 1950! Argentina and Colombia also showed an interest in hosting the 2014 World Cup, but Brazil was announced in 2007.

2.It took 36 years before South America will host the World Cup again, the last was Argentina hosting in 1978!

3. The World Cup Official TV Opening  Song is an animated video, click on the link, what do you think?

4. 2014 World Cup is the most expensive World Cup Ever –  No expense spared apparently and although Brazil has gone out to give us a World Cup no one will ever forget, it has certainly come at a price tag 16 billion dollars to be precise and the cost is still rising. Compared to $6 billion spent by South Africa in 2010 and £5 billion spent by Japan/South Korea in 2002, this is sure to be one spectacular World Cup.

5. A Paraplegic teenager will take the first 2014 World Cup kick, and although paralysed from the waist down, he will be wearing a mind controlled exoskeleton suit which will allow him to feel the kick due to sensory feedback. An amazing step in technology I am sure you will agree.

6. Referees are allowed to stop matches 2/3 times due to weather conditions , as we know the weather will be intense for our players so these breaks will enable them to rehydrate themselves.

7. The official World Cup Song is called ‘WE ARE THE ONE’  I think its great, very Brazil

8.Many countries had a list of demands for their visit to Brazil and here are just a few :-

Portugal demanded a games Console in every room and 6 security guards, 2 of which were to mind Cristiano Ronaldo at all times.

France demanded the hotel to replace its soap are with the liquid variety and also that every room for every player was identical even down to how it was decorated.

Uruguay demanded silent air conditioning units in each room , well I am sure we can all appreciate that demand.

Is it any surprise that England had the most demands – New furniture in each bedroom, including rust free balconies lol really?  A restaurant for their exclusive use, pool and leisure facilities for their exclusive use for a few hours every day. Their own games room offering games consoles and 3 TV’s showing the latest games. I love my football but even I dont think a few hours of Corrie and a trip to the Sauna will give our lads the World Cup Trophy.

Their are so many facts regarding the World Cup and its players I could be here for 31 days typing this blog, but I hope you have learned something new all in the name of fun.

Lastly I just want to say to all you World Cup Fans wherever your watching the games , enjoy and unfortunately although I will be hosting many a World Cup Party I wont be where I was in June 2010, and that was on the Norwegian Epic.
