Tis the season!

With December well and truly upon us , tis the season for all things festive! I’m taking my family Ice skating this week in the Historic Caerphilly castle. The last time we went skating was last October whilst on board Navigator of the seas.

As we all know, Royal Caribbean is famous for the on board activities it offers its guests, including ice skating at sea! Being in the middle of the ocean doesn’t mean you can’t put on a pair of skates and go ice skating! You may not expect to wrap up a sunny day with figure eights on the ice rink. If you want to enjoy ice skating as part of your Royal Caribbean cruise (it’s complimentary), here are some important things to know.

Royal Caribbean provides ice skates free of charge for its guests to use but if you prefer to bring your own, guests are allowed to bring and use their own skates. If you do bring your own, you can even skate at one of the advanced skate sessions on board.  Children and adults, from beginners to masters, are invited to strap on a pair and show off their moves. Remember to pack accordingly , packing for the Caribbean might mean you forget long trousers and gloves!

Select Royal Caribbean ships offer ice skating, so be sure you are booked on one of these ships in order to enjoy it

  • Voyager of the Seas
  • Mariner of the Seas
  • Adventure of the Seas
  • Navigator of the Seas
  • Explorer of the Seas
  • Freedom of the Seas
  • Liberty of the Seas
  • Independence of the Seas
  • Oasis of the Seas
  • Allure of the Seas
  • Harmony of the Seas
  • Symphony of the Seas

Royal Caribbean are the only cruise line to offer an ice rink at sea so if you’re feeling brave, I’d highly recommend an ice skating session, if your brave enough to join in , watching a show is an absolute must. Tickets go fast so when they announce when they are being given out, be sure to go get some.  If the skating isn’t for you, then sit back, relax, and take a seat whilst watching how the professionals do it when they take to the rink for the breathtaking Ice Shows. The show we saw on Navigator was absolutely fantastic and still amazes me we were sailing to the Canaries on a ship watching it!

If your ice skating anytime soon, at home or at sea – be careful and have fun!
