Nadolig Llawen……..

Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda, roughly translated as Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my Colleagues and Customers, from not so sunny or snowy but wet and windy South Wales!  I hope you’ll be eating your weight in Turkey, exchanging gifts you didn’t need or want and watch all the ‘happy’ soaps……………who died, who got married or who had a baby this year………….who cares!!

As a few of you know I’ve just attended our annual cruise.co conference.  This year we held our conference onboard Cruise & Maritime’s Marco Polo with an overnight call to Dublin and have to say I had such an amazing time.  The good thing with this years conference is we sailed from Bristol Avonmouth so only 42 miles from me but the bad thing is we had to sail through the Irish Sea.  The sea was rough…..very rough and many many of us suffered especially on the way back from Dublin!  Think a few passengers slept in their lifejackets!!
The Marco Polo is an old ship, built in 1962 so you can hear the ship creaking as she sails but saying that the interior is nice and and actually quite modern.  Our cabin was a Category 12 Premium Twin with 2 decent size picture windows.  Unfortunately during the really rough seas (that was any day at sea) the drawers were continuously opening and closing which I can laugh about now about but at the time I really felt awful. I’ve been advised since that with sea sickness tablets you must take them at least 2 hours before you sail for them to work not when you are already suffering……lol.

Our conferences are not just an excuse for a party as we do get to socialise with many of our cruise line partners and also many of our very own staff who we’ve never met or ones we only get to meet once a year.  So for that very reason its well worth attending.

After day 1 of conference we had the afternoon and evening in Dublin.  Myself and a few colleagues decided we’d go back to a traditional Irish bar called O’Donoghues which we visited 2 years ago for one or two pints of the black stuff…..Guinness.  Not a fan back home but to me it tastes totally different in Dublin……..obviously doesn’t travel well.  After that we headed over to the lively Temple Bar area to meet up for our party at our exclusive bar!

So all in all it was a fantastic trip and i’m keen to know where next years conference is going to take place, i’m hoping we fly after this experience!   One thing for sure……i’ll be there whatever.

On a final note I’d like to thank you all for your custom over the years and I look forward to helping you again in the not too distant future.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year.
