I’m a Tourist…..Get Me Out of Here!!!

Its that time of year again that sees the return of I’m A CelebrityGet Me Out Of Here!  Usually a group of B list celebs but this year i’m quite impressed with the line up. They head into the Jungle and compete in Bush Tucker trials to win food and treats for their fellow contestants in camp. Bush Tucker Trials take different formats: eating trials, physical and mental tasks.

So with this is mind have you ever been on a cruise or to a certain destination that you literally couldn’t wait to leave. Have you left a review on Trip Advisor making sure no one makes the same mistake as you? I’ve never been on a ship that has made me think, I need to get of here now but I’ve been on some that I wouldn’t necessarily rush to embark again! I won’t name any names! But there have been some destinations in particular cruise ports that I’ve visited and wish I had stayed on the ship.  Ruby Princess in Greenock

To name a few that I would probably would not return to are Greenock in Scotland, the run down town left a lot to the imagination but is a great access point to Glasgow if you book an excursion. Livorno in Italy, It is the capital of the Province of Livorno, it was OK but just OK, again this is a great Port to visit Florence or Pisa from here by excursion.

Another port with very little to do other than to wander around aimlessly is Koper in Slovenia, again its just an industrial port with a very small town literally a stones throw from the ship.  koper

A quick half hour off the ship and you’re done….but worth it just for a local refreshment (beer).  I think its important to for the local economy to try local produce!

I’ve got to be fair most ports i’ve been to have been great, the obvious ones which jump out are Vancouver and the Alaska ports (Sitka, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan), Venice, Portofino (tender), Portovenere, Sorrento (tender), Barcelona, and I like Gibraltar even though a few of my customers don’t.  Others i’ve enjoyed are Bergen, Stavanger, Olden and Skjolden which I did this year all of which are different but well worth seeing. At the end of the day it’s all down to personal choice and what excursion you book if you decide to do so. Venice

Let me know if there’s any Port you’ve been to, that should carry a boredom warning! Also let me know if there are any ports that carry hidden treasures. I remember the first time I visited the Port of Zeebrugge , the port itself is not the most attractive, but the short train ride too Bruges is worth every penny!

Have you been to any ports where you’ve thought what a waste of time calling here??

Anyway my money is on John Barrowman to win!

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Haydn
