Celebrity still have the Edge for me!

As you will remember from my last update I was lucky enough to have just sampled the Celebrity Edge for a few nights so what did I think of her…………………………….WOW is the answer, you can take me to the Edge anytime.

As part of my job I get to see a lot of new ships some big and some small and they all have the own unique selling points but sometimes do feel much of a muchness. Well, not the Edge she did have a feel like no other ship I have ever been on. Very modern and contemporary and you can tell they have spent a fortune on the design and flow of the whole ship, public areas, and cabins.

So let’s start with the cabins first of all. I stayed in an Infinity Balcony cabin on deck 12 cabin number 12233 and it was very different to anything I have stayed in before. The first thing that hits you is the feeling of space as the infinity balcony makes the room so much bigger than what it actually is because you have the bi-fold that you have open so the balcony space becomes an extension of the room.

I spent a good half a day looking at all the different cabin types from an inside cabin to an Edge Villa and Even a Penthouse Suite which you may have seen I posted a video of my walking around which took about 3 1/2 minutes………..

I have photo’s of all the different types so if anybody would like to see any then please let me know and I can send or publish.

The outside space on Celebrity is always good and on the likes of my favourite ship the Eclipse they have the lawn club but on the Edge they have. Rooftop Garden which is such a lovely area to chill on big comfy seats, very spacious a big screen that you can watch and also a great place to eat or have a cocktail or two.

The pool area is a really good size and seem large compared to other ships and if did give the impression of more space to grab a sunbed around there than other ships. The hot tub is very cool it’s almost like they are shaped like a Martini Glass above the pool area and they are a very good size. I love a hot tub on a cruise and they certainly impressed.

The retreat is a fantastic exclusive area for guests who are staying in the suites or the Edge Villas it feels very exclusive and has lots of space comfy sunbeds, It’s own pool bar and grill. If you had treat yourself to a suite you may not want to leave it.

On the inside the Edge again wins with plentiful shops bars and restaurants but where she is clearly head and shoulders above most at the moment is the magnificent Eden area which I have never seen anything similar on a cruise ship. It a venue that well changes throughout the day and night. It has lush tropical plants so you forget you are on a ship and it has multi floor windows so it feels very big. It’s really relaxing and cool and then on a night it can serve as an amazing venue for things such as the silent disco we went too!

You will notice I have not covered the Magic Carpet yet and Bars and restaurants so I will cover that on my next update along with more images. If you want to see more pictures or videos have a look at my facebook page Harryatthehelm ( I never came up with the title lol )
