Guess Who’s Back?

Royal Caribbean fans are surely excited to hear that a Quantum Class ship is returning to Southampton in 2020, yes that’s right, Anthem of the Seas will be home-porting there for the Summer Season along with the UK’s favourite, Independence of the Seas. It will be the first time in five years that we have had a Quantum Class ship ex-UK. Great news for cruisers who didn’t get to cruise on her first time round.

Anthem and her sister ship were ground-breaking when they were first released, the technology on board these ships and the fact that they were so environmentally friendly put them streets ahead of other ships and other cruise lines. I was lucky enough to do a behind the scenes tour on Quantum, below decks, and saw first hand how they dealt with recycling, they collect one tonne of glass alone per week, and I also found out what happened to your ‘toilet waste’, fascinating.

Alongside all the technology, Anthem boasts some stunning and amazing features on board. She weighs 168,000 tonnes and carries 4900 passengers, all of whom are guaranteed to be wowed by what has been deemed Royal Caribbeans first 5* Class of ship.

The North Star carries you 300 feet above sea level (not for me thank you all the same), you can have your cocktails served by the robots, known as Bio and Nic who, after five years of practise, have now got this own to a fine art. They were lacking a bit when I was on Quantum, bit new to the job I expect. You can nip up to the pool deck and meet Gigi the 10 metre tall giraffe, bound to be popular with the children.

When it comes to dining you are completely spoiled for choice to be honest, there are so many dining venues on board, all quite unique and totally fabulous. A particular favourite of mine was Silk, the Asian Fusion cuisine in there is totally delicious! One restaurant I didn’t manage to book into was Wonderland, based on an Alice in Wonderland Theme, the decor is amazing as is the food, all presented and served in a very theatrical way of course. Maybe if I manage to get on board in 2020 I will get the chance to dine in there.

There are 18 different dining options on this class of ship so I am sure you will manage to find something to suit every palate, and once you’ve had dinner get yourself along to Two70 for what has to be the most amazing entertainment as sea – I promise you will be blown away!

Well, that’s all for this week folks, I am off to prepare for an extremely busy Black Friday tomorrow. People won’t be able to resist booking when they see the fantastic deals being offered by the various cruise lines – Royal Caribbean are offering a 6 night cruise from just £399 per person, how about that for a deal?!!

Happy Cruising Folks!
